SHANSHAN MO
Her practice reflects on identity in flux — how the self negotiates instability, spatial displacement, and cultural drift. Moving between multiple contexts, she often finds himself suspended between definitions, unable to be neatly contained. Her work begins with this persistent sense of uncertainty, a quiet negotiation between who she is, where she comes from, and where she is going.
She makes quiet things: pale figures, partial bodies, soft interruptions in space. They drift, hesitate, sometimes disappear. She works in grey, not in woebegone, but in silence. In blurred water stains, in intentional blankness, in what slips between marks, I look for something that can’t be pinned down.
