MISRA MIRMIR
Mısra Mırmır’s interdisciplinary artistic practice explores the existential boundaries of the human condition, as well as the traces and effects of time upon matter. Across two- and three-dimensional surfaces, she investigates the layered structure of memory.
Bone-like forms she employs transcend anatomical function, transforming into metaphorical objects of “remnant” and “reminder” within the earthly realm. These forms approach biomorphic aesthetics with a visual vocabulary through the forces of time and nature.
By working with materials such as copper, bronze, steel, metal, wood, and clay through various casting techniques, she reveals not only their physical presence, but also their internal structures, those that transform, decay, and re-form over time. She constructs the nature and associations of material through an expressive language guided by chance.
“The search for layers of past and future becomes a timeless truth within her works.”
Mısra Mırmır was born in 1999 in Edirne. She lives and continues her works in Istanbul.
