Carving out spaces for their own belonging, changing the stories of their bodies, and redefining the structures around them; this new selection of artists at SANKI discuss the body in metamorphosis. Through rebelling identities and traditional symbolism, pain and perception intertwine. They bring out rhythms of nature and heritage in a variety of mediums across Photography, Sculpture, and Painting.
Featured workshops and events will be scattered throughout, available on Eventbrite.

Freya Glass is an emerging artist based in Edinburgh. A graduate from Painting BA at
Edinburgh College of Art in 2025, Freya is a recipient of the Andrew Grant Travel and
Equipment Bursary, a nominee for New Blood Emerging Art Prize and selected for RSA
New Contemporaries. Her practice combines painting and sculpture in an exploration of
the perceptual experience of spatiality through an engagement with familiar, found and
collected materials.

Through playful and intuitive processes, she interrogates the human response to sites
of destruction as they fluctuate. Her practice mirrors this through a repetitive reshaping
of her materials . Each piece emerges from an ongoing dialogue between herself, the
materials, and the environment, responsive to scale, tension, and the contradictions of
practicality. Rooted in challenging a formulaic method, her practice reinterprets
everyday materials with empathy and spontaneity, inviting viewers into spaces that
encourage a navigation of instability

'Environmental Rendering' brings together emerging artists that have come onto the scene during drastic environmental and societal change. Life becoming inseparable from the internet, war and conflict witnessed in real time, the advent of generative AI, polarised politics, and climate change. These artists dissect and reimagine our current environments.
