CARLOTTA HILDENBRAND
Carlotta Hildenbrand is a feminist sculptor who graduated from the University of Edinburgh with an MA in Fine Art and she now studies for an MA in Curating at the Courtauld. She has recently won the runner-up Astaire prize, had her work featured in AN Magazine, and received the Scottish Society of Artists New Graduate Award. Her practice strives to educate on sexual health and rights from a feminist perspective using approachable artworks that aestheticize these ‘harder’ subjects to digest. Alongside her personal experiences, the growing issues of women’s rights in the world, such as the overturning of Roe v. Wade, have shaped her artistic goals. Currently, the importance of understanding these topics is greater than ever, but open discussions about them are rare. Reaching a wider audience through visual media can help highlight these oftentimes invisible issues.
